During his more than 38 years of experience, William Rupp has handled virtually every type of case, with a focus on general civil matters. Through his various public appointments, he has had extensive experience in municipal and land use law and has, in connection, handled virtually every conceivable aspect of municipal law, including eminent domain, zoning and land use law, redevelopment law, special improvement districts, labor negotiations, public employment law, disciplinary hearings, tax appeals, environmental protection law, law against discrimination, violation of federal civil rights laws, Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA), contract negotiations, drafting specifications, unfair labor practices and the preparation of countless resolutions and ordinances.
William has practiced before the Superior Court of New Jersey, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court, the New Jersey Supreme Court, the Tax Court of New Jersey, the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law, the Public Employment Relations Commission, the Council on Affordable Housing, the N.J. Division on Civil Rights, the U.S.District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
William has served as Borough Attorney for the Borough of Maywood, City Solicitor for the City of Englewood, Township Attorney for Rochelle Park, the attorney for the Teaneck Redevelopment Agency, Board of Adjustment Attorney for the Borough of Leonia and the Borough of Park Ridge, and Planning Board Atttorney for the Borough of Park Ridge.
William is an armed forces veteran and is a member of both American Legion Post 142 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7408 in Maywood. He is a Rotarian and member of the Maywood Rotary Club since 1978, and went on to serve as Rotary District 7490’s Governor for 1994-95. He has been honored as Rotarian of the Year and received the Gift of Life Humanitarian Award.
